Medicine, don't want it but do need it sometimes. It is just how life is!
The cost of prescription drugs is pretty scary for most. The majority of us do not have a lot of money just laying around looking for a place to be waisted! If you are NOT fortunate enough to have a good Medicare Plan or a good plan through your work like Blue Cross Blue Shield, you are in for a shock should you need to fill a prescription at full price. My doctor suggested the WalMart $4.00 plan and I am so grateful that he did. At first I just could not believe the cost of a prescription I would have paid $100 plus was truly only $4.00 but it was and still is. How great is that! There are many choices for your doctor from which to choose to get you on this plan. Don't forget to ask about it the next time you visit and he/she hands you that dreaded little piece of white paper called a prescription!
Here are some choices you and your doctor might consider:
1)Your local Walmart is a great place to start. A 30 day supply of select generic drugs are all for $4. On Walmart's website is a list of covered drugs or give your local Walmart Pharmacy a call!
2)Kmart currently has a special where you can purchase a 3 month supply of select generic drugs for $15. Again, they have a list (very long) so give your local store a call.
3)Your local Target Pharmacy offers a 30 day supply of select generic drugs for $4. Another store which has a list, but see if your prescription is on the list!
4)AARP offers substantial discounts to seniors who currently are members. The catch is they have to send you the prescription via mail, so you have to wait a few weeks to get your medicine.
5)Eli Lilly has a program for low-income seniors to get a 30-day supply of Lilly prescription drugs for $12 a month. It is a card that is shown at department stores for the discount. Call 1-877-RX-LILLY to apply.
